Casa De Los Baby's | Don't let the list of actors trick you into renting this one. I didn't even see this one through to the end and that is very rare for me, although recently I've been doing that more. So a bunch of women interact while wating to adopt. It's like watching corn grow in July. |
Aileen Wuornos : The selling of a serial killer | forget about it. Walk past it at the video rental store. |
Fire Starter 2 | Drew Barrymore is one of my all time favorite Hollywood people, so that's why I watched Firestarter 2. ( Ms. Barrymore stared in the first Firestarter ) About 2/3's of the way done I think, hay I know Marguerite Moreau (new Firestater) aka Charlie. I look her up and sure enough she is the woman who was playing the scene when I was an extra in a made for television movie. (how could I live in Wilmington and try out the extra thing at least once?). I remember seeing Ms. Moreau's assistand brushing her long black hair so it draped over her jacket just so. I missed seeing it on TV! Back to the Firestarter 2: It is nothing I would recommend but it is a lot better than some films I've sat through. |
Monster | OK so Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci both do a great job of acting. OK. The story sucks. I only watched the whole thing so I'd know what everyone else is watching. I'd give it a 4. It's too noir for me. I need my spirits lifted while I heal not dragged down. And, it's not that I never like film noir, just not in the mood for this one. |
Boiler Room |
This was pretty good. I had seen the last part of it once but didn't recognize it right away. Giovanni Ribisi is great in his role as Seth. It has the criminal element, definite plus right off the bat. The development in relationship between Seth and the Judge (Ron Rifkin) a well written aspect of this film. It's not a fantastic movie but definitely on my suggested list. I'd give it a 7. And now I'll be paying a lot more attention to Mr. Ribisi. |
Shreck 2 |
What is not worth watching with Mike Myers? Nothing. Ditto for Eddie Murphy. If you don't think those two are funny then there's something wrong with you. And especially worth seeing it in the theater are the other kids and parents reactions to what's going on in the story. |
Frida | Well maybe I've been hiding under a rock or something but until I chose this film to watch, I hadn't paid any attention to this movie, and yes I did see some of the Academy awards or at least Joan Rivers accounts of the dresses. Movie: Frida, rated fantastic. This is without a doubt the best movie I've seen since I broke my wrist, and the best movie I've seen in several years. It has everything I could want in a movie. Beautiful sets, gorgeous cinematography, it's a period move, it's a true story about an artist, it's a love story, fine acting by everyone, great casting, extremely fantastic music (which opened my life to a new genre), right on screen writing, it's erotic, costumes are most worthy. There was nothing about this movie that I did not like. It was inspirational for me to the point that I got out my paints, set up a studio space so that I can continue to be creative while I am unable to blow glass. The story is great. I am not one to hang out in museums trying to impress people with my keen love of art. I only took one art history class in high school. I didn't even know there existed a Frida Kahlo or a Diego Rivera but I bet I'm not the only one. My life has been enriched by seeing this wonderful story and having a sense of this incredible woman. It's a 10. |
Sun. May 30 | As with most situations, my recovery is not linear but a series of small hills. Recently I've taken in more movies than I wish to review. |
