21 grams movie: 21 Grams. Slow start but then it gets going. Its one of those films that jumps back and forth in time and personally, I find that entertaining because I like wondering what is going to happen next. The acting is great by everyone. The story itself is interesting. It seems very long even though it is only 125 minutes. Don't look for any fancy hollywood scenes though it is one of those real and dirty films, where its all dark, but just light enough not to be like those creepy really dark films that are set in the future in cities that are decaying. Its more yellow than that. It is an artsy movie which captures a certain suffering aspect of life. I wouldn't expect to see Benicio Del Toro in any film which didn't have drugs or prison and this one has both. I must say I was relieved when his character rejected his extremely fundamentalist Jesus harping fanatic congregation which he earlier in the film swallows sink line and hooker. oops not to give too much of it away. I wouldn't classify as a guy or chick flick, it's an artsy flick that will turn a lot of people off. It was OK. I'd give it a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. If I'd spent the money to see it in the theater I would have enjoyed it more.
While you were sleeping movie : while you were sleeping; rated can't remember; about a woman who takes subway tokens in Chicago who falls in love with one of the regular commuters, Peter Gallagner, I still associate him with sex lies and video tapes, and how she could find that creep good looking is beyond me. He never even looks at her, seems completely self absorbed and narcissistic. Great casting ( I lost my notes on who that is) Other than that small detail its a cute comedy of errors written superbly by Daniel G. Sullivan & Fredric LeBow. Why haven't they written more? If I could think up half of the scenarios they do I'd be writing lots of movies. I had seen this movie before and never thought of watching it again, I rarely watch movies twice, unlike my 20 year old children, who buy and watch dvd's like we used to listen to albums. The second time around was great and I highly recommend this movie to women. (Not a guy flick) And the editing was clever (lost my notes). Sandra Bullock ( Lucy) is great, I'll watch anything she is in. Bill Pullman does a great job as Jack and Jack Warden, who I never paid much attention to before is great as Saul. Jason Bernard also plays the likeable character of Jerry. I give it an eight as a chick flick on a scale of 1 to 10.
Mon. MAY 17 I took in a few more movies this weekend on HBO on demand.
